Are most blogs independent media? That is, they are not controlled by any corporation and they recieve no corporate funding or anything.

The vast, vast majority of blogs are individuals justing using the medium to express their thoughts. Of course, the vast majority of blogs don't get read by very many people.





Many of the "big name" blogs have either direct corporate sponsorship or an indirect tie-in to other forms of corporate media (the writer is a writer for traditional media, such as Andrew Sullivan or the writer uses it to report for profit enterprizes such as Matt Drudge.)





Bottom line, you should have all the same concerns and do all the same fact-checking in the blogosphere that you do with traditional media. Individuals and corporations can both lie, be lazy or just plain be wrong.
