Looking for a blog that one can add nice backgrounds or animations. I mean just a place for blogs not places like Myspace that have a blog but are part of a network. Thank you.

Easily customizable. Has lots of layouts you can choose from, or you can make your own, or you can use ones that other people have made. These are great sites for premade LJ layouts:

And you can join LJ communities. For example, if you join a LJ community about cooking/baking, it would be a blog where you can post recipes/questions, where others can post recipes/questions, and where you can comment on them, etc.





And many people have LJ accounts, so it would be easy to find and make LJ friends.





Edit: In response to the person below me, you don't need be a paying member to customize. You can put in your own backgrounds and use premade layouts even if you have a free, basic account. Although I agree, WordPress is good for customization, as well.
Reply:I use LiveJournal, it lets you customize pretty much anything (it uses html and CSS, but there are good tutorials) and there are dozens of beautiful pre-made layouts.





There are some restrictions for those who have a free account, but you can still do a lot.
