Anyone know what the most popular male blogs are? Or how about popular blogs in general? Do they make $100/day

Just wondering about successful blogs

Anyone know what the most popular male blogs are? Or how about popular blogs in general? Do they make $100/day
Technorati has a ranking of the top 100 blogs http://technorati.com/pop/blogs/

Successful blogs make THOUSANDS per day -- $100 is peanuts. Just look at the ad rates of some of these top blogs

Boing Boing - the #5 on Technorati's list charges $20 CPM for a leaderboard http://advertisers.federatedmedia.net/pl... Considering this blog generates 7,750,000 pageviews per month and assuming that their leaderboard is fully subscribed in a month, this blog stands to earn

[7,750,000 / 1,000 ] x $20 CPM = $155,000

and that's for a leaderboard alone!

The top blogs earn MILLIONS a year.

For ad rates of these blogs, check out the ad agency Federated Media http://www.federatedmedia.net as they represent blogs and sell ad space for top blogs. The rates are available on their site

I suggest you read Business 2.0 Magazine's article “Blogging for Dollars,” http://money.cnn.com/magazines/business2... . Boing Boing, PaidContent.org and Fark.com earned a million dollars in ad revenues in 2006, while TechCrunch earns $60,000 a month in ad revenues.

Reply:What the hell is a "male blog"?

Don't look at those list of blogs and think you can easily replicate that. Blogs are as complicated to promote as any regular website and their ability to sell advertising is a combination of AdSense, banner ads, text links (formerly), selling email lists, and even affiliate marketing etc.

I worked at an interactive marketing firm and we tracked lists of bloggers and advertised with them. We only spent money on blogs with high traffic, good content, and targeted audiences. Political blogs, sports blogs, etc.

The best resource is Darren Rowse of ProBlogger. He's made good coin blogging for dollars. As long as you keep a realistic expectation - and you consistently blog with good, new, unique content - then you can build up readership and ultimately, money.
